🏠 | Slow Cooked Pulled Pork

I just got a new toy in the kitchen – a slow cooker! .. And I don’t know why I never bought it before, because it’s extremely handy for those of us who want to just throw a jumble of food into a pot and have it ready by the time you come back from school/work. As my first try with this machine, I new I had to go with pulled pork. It came out FANTASTIC and super super super SUPER tender :)

  • 4 lb pork shoulder
  • 4 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tbsp sea salt
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp ground cumin
  • 2 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Optional: onions

  1. Mix all of the dry ingredients except the pork shoulder
  2. Massage the spice rub all of the pork shoulder, and make sure to get into those little folds if you can. Every part of the meat should be covered in spice
  3. Wrap the meat tightly (double wrap if necessary) with plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least 3 hours
  4. Unwrap the pork and place it in the slow cooker (you can add quartered onions if you’d like)
  5. Add 1/4 water and turn the slow cooker on low, and cook for 10 hours, flipping at the halfway mark
  6. Transfer the pork onto a cutting board, and pull the meat apart with 2 forks (don’t use your fingers, they will get burned!!)
  7. If you’d like, you can add BBQ sauce to it as well, and it tastes awesome as well
